Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Backpack Brief, Inc. ("Backpack Brief", "we", "our", or "us"). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Eligibility & Scope
- Services are available only to individuals who are 18 years or older and residents of the United States.
- By using the Services, you represent that you meet these requirements and have legal authority to bind yourself and, if applicable, your household.
- We do not market to or knowingly accept users outside the United States.
Parent TL;DR: U.S. adults only. You can use the account for your family.
2. Services
- Backpack Brief provides an AI‑powered service that organizes family‑related communications (emails, PDFs) into summaries, reminders, and related tools.
- Features may be updated, modified, or discontinued at any time.
- Access may depend on your subscription tier or entitlements.
Parent TL;DR: We organize family-related messages; features can change.
3. Accounts
- Provide accurate registration information and keep your login credentials confidential.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- Accounts may not be shared outside your household or family.
Parent TL;DR: Use real info, keep your login safe, don't share it outside your family.
4. Payment & Subscriptions
- Subscription plans, fees, billing cycles, and any trial offers are disclosed during checkout.
- Payments are processed by Stripe.
- Trials (if offered) do not automatically convert to paid subscriptions and you have the option to upgrade to a paid subscription when your trial ends.
- You may cancel anytime; cancellations stop future billing but do not refund past charges unless required by law.
- No prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
- We may suspend or terminate access if payment fails or your subscription lapses.
Parent TL;DR: Billed via Stripe. Trials roll into paid plans unless you cancel. No prorated refunds.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Services, including:
- Unlawful use or infringement of others' rights.
- Reverse engineering, disrupting, or reselling the Services.
- Uploading/forwarding content you do not have the right to share.
- No blanket auto‑forwarding of your personal inbox. Only forward family‑related messages you want organized.
Parent TL;DR: Don't break the law or spam the system. Don't auto‑forward your entire inbox.
6. Content & Data
- You retain ownership of the content you submit.
- You grant Backpack Brief a limited license to process, analyze, and display your content as needed to provide the Services.
- We may use aggregated, anonymized data to improve the Services.
Parent TL;DR: Your data is yours; we use it only to run and improve the service.
7. AI Processing & No Professional Advice
- We use third‑party AI providers to summarize and organize content.
- AI outputs may contain errors or omissions.
- Backpack Brief does not provide legal, medical, educational, or other professional advice.
- You are responsible for reviewing summaries before relying on them.
Parent TL;DR: AI helps, but it's not perfect or professional advice—double‑check important items.
8. Disclaimers
- The Services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error‑free operation, or perfectly accurate summaries.

9. Limitation of Liability
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, Backpack Brief will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages.
- Our total liability for claims relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid to Backpack Brief in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Parent TL;DR: If something goes wrong, our liability is capped at what you paid us in the last year.
10. Governing Law & Arbitration
- These Terms and any disputes are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and U.S. federal law.
- Except for claims that may be brought in small claims court, disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration in Delaware on an individual basis (no class actions).
Parent TL;DR: Delaware law applies. Disputes go to arbitration in Delaware.
11. Termination
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Services.
- You may stop using the Services at any time; cancellation terms are described in Section 4.

12. Changes
- We may revise these Terms from time to time.
- If changes are material, we will provide notice (e.g., email or in‑app).
- Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Parent TL;DR: If we change the rules, we'll let you know. Keep using the app = you agree.
