Privacy Policy
Backpack Brief, Inc. ("Backpack Brief", "we", "our", or "us") provides an AI-powered service that organizes family-related communications into clear reminders and summaries for parents. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our website, applications, and related services (the "Services").
Jurisdiction: Our Services are intended for use in the United States only. We do not represent or warrant compliance with non‑U.S. privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, UK DPA). By using the Services, you acknowledge your data will be processed and stored in the United States.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies only to individuals located in the United States.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information You Provide
- Account information (name, email address, optional family member names).
- Consent records (confirmations for Terms, Privacy Policy, and subscription plans).
- Communications you forward (emails, attachments such as PDFs/flyers, and related content).
- Customer support messages you send to us.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device and usage data (IP address, browser type, device identifiers, log files, interactions).
- Cookies and Pixels: We use cookies for login, security, and functionality. We also use the Meta Pixel to measure the performance of our advertising. This tool allows us to understand when a user registers after seeing an ad on Facebook or Instagram. The data collected remains anonymous to us but is processed by Meta, which may link it to your Facebook account in accordance with their Data Policy.
Information from Third Parties
- Your payment processor (e.g., Stripe) provides subscription status, payment method expiration, and the last four digits of your card. We do not store full payment card numbers.
- Service providers that operate parts of the Services (authentication/database hosting, email delivery, and AI processing). We instruct these providers to process your information only to perform services for us and, where provider controls exist, we opt out of using your content to train their models.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and operate the Services (process emails, parse attachments, generate summaries/reminders).
- Manage accounts, authenticate logins, administer subscriptions, and send transactional communications.
- Respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues.
- Improve performance, reliability, and accuracy of the Services.
- Enforce our Terms, comply with legal obligations, and prevent fraud/misuse.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited ways:
- Service Providers: Vendors that operate parts of the Services (hosting/authentication, email delivery, payments, and AI processing).
- Advertising Partners: We share limited data (such as the fact that you visited our site or signed up) with platforms like Meta (Facebook/Instagram) to measure the effectiveness of our ads and preventing you from seeing ads for a service you already use.
- Legal & Safety: If required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business Transfers: In a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
- Account data is kept while your subscription is active.
- Forwarded communications are stored only as long as needed; Backpack Brief is not an archive.
- Request deletion any time at privacy@backpackbrief.com.

7. Security

- Limited personnel access to production systems.
- No system is perfectly secure, but we take steps to reduce risk.
8. Children's Data

- If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.
